Just before departure
- Ensure that all tyres have been correctly inflated to the appropriate pressure
- Remove annex
- Main table is stored in transit position.
- Check contents of fridge are safe & secure for travel
- Fasten refrigerator door
- Check inside that cupboard doors and drawers are shut and everything is secured.
- Remove TV and secure for travel
- Remove microwave plate (if fitted) and secure for travel
- Check that the gas locker, battery locker and cassette toilet doors are all secure
- Switch fridge to DC if required.
- Make sure that all gas has been turned off at the bottle
- Empty the waste-water containers and clean out any toilet cassette in an appropriate place and ensure your water tank has been filled recently. You may actually prefer to travel with it empty, but only if you are going to a place where potable water is available.
- Make sure that the 240V electrical lead has been disconnected and packed away
- Secure roof hatches
- Open pressure hatch if travelling on dirt roads
- Secure pop-top (if fitted)
- Check caravan that all doors, windows, antennae down and door steps are pushed up.
- Secure awning
- Engage handbrake on caravan,
- Wind up stabiliser stands
- Back the tow vehicle up to the caravan and engage hitch.
- Remove chocks
- Check the caravan’s nose weight
- Connect safety chains to vehicle (cross over chains) and lights connector plug
- Breakaway cable connected
- Remove jockey wheel and put in storage box and disengage handbrake
- Fit load leveller (if required/available)
- Check that all your mirrors are firmly secured and you can see appropriately out of them
- Get someone to stand outside while you press the brake pedal and switch on the various lights, ensure that all are working
- One final walk around before you leave
